Heat Meters Mechanical

With the increasing cost of energy and an emphasis on energy reduction, accurate and reliable metering of all utilities has become necessary for measuring and managing energy costs.

HMs provide the metering of heating and/or cooling energy in hydronic systems based on volume, and supply and return temperatures. HMM/H models are for energy metering of heating systems, HMM/HC models are for cooling or heat/cool systems. Various thread sizes and respective ball valves and tailpieces facilitate the installation of the HMM meters and allow them to be used in a wide range of installations. Used in conjunction with an RS232 and Mbus convertor and a Trend IQ3/XNC M-Bus driver, the meter's data can be accessed over the Trend network.

The Trend heat-meters are part of a package of energy solutions aimed to provide practical and reliable solutions for energy management across all non-residential properties and estates as well as for community district heating programmes. They are also suitable for fiscal billing applications as they are certified with the appropriate requirements of the EN 1434 European standard for thermal energy metering and the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID).

Functionality
The HMM meter can be connected to the Trend system using the IQ3../XNC/SER (with the MBUS driver installed). The M-Bus driver is able to access the meter read its values and set up its parameters.

Hardware
A Trend HMM hydronic meter consists of an integrator mounted on top of a mechanical measuring component:
•Electronic energy integrator with supply and return temperature probes (sensors)
Mechanical volume measuring component with external threads according to ISO228 (DN15...DN40)

Integrator:
The integrator contains all the necessary circuits for recording flow rate and temperature and for calculating, logging and displaying the data. The meter can be conveniently read from a single line seven-digit display with units and symbols.

M-Bus Connection
The HMM meter can be connected to the Trend System using an IQ3/XNC/SER with an RS232 to M-Bus convertor.

The Trend RS232/M-Bus converters, TWP series, have straight through RS232 connections but some converters may require a RX/TX crossover connection. The Trend TWP converters may also be connected by a straight 9 Way D socket to 9 Way D plug cable. The TWP3 interfaces with up to 3 meters and the TWP20 with up to 20 meters.

Software
Hydro-Set:
The Hydro-Set software Tool runs under Windows XP (the software is not supported by Windows 7). The PC should be connected to the meter by way of an RS232/M-Bus converter (e.g. TWP3). If the PC doesn’t have an RS232 connection a USB to RS232 adapter should be used.
